Patient Power

As a patient support group, we continue to challenge NHS Hounslow (PCT) on the provision of diabetes
healthcare services. As a Non Executive Director, Our Chairman David Cahill has a conflict of interest in lobbying NHS Hounslow so our Committee appointed Colin Stacey and Peter Curtis to act as Patient User Representatives.

Interaction with the Hounslow Local Involvement Network (LINk).

Local Involvement Networks (LINks) were set up by the Government to replace Public Patient Involvement Forums (PPIFs) and hold NHS Trusts to account for delivering healthcare that meets the needs of the local population. See LINKs

Our Chief Executive Colin Stacey was elected to the Hounslow LINk Steering Committee in March 2009. He was re-elected in March 2010. He holds the Diabetes Healthcare Seat on the LINk and represents the views of our Group.

- Decommissioning of Tier 4 Diabetes hospital outpatients appointments back to primary care (GPs)
- Insufficient Podiatry resources to get appointments
- Free use of Hounslow Council Gyms for Diabetic Patients, September 2007
- Prevention and early detection of Type 2 diabetes
- Diabetic Retinopathy Screening
- Cholesterol reducing Statin tablets
- London Borough of Hounslow Council - Hounslow Children and Young Peoples Plan 2007-2010
