Screening

We aim to help screen for increased risk to diabetes in the local population We operate Diabetes Awareness Stands at roadshows that travel out to communities where we can assist in screening the public to see if they have increased risk of developing Diabetes.

Health Trainers

We get some of our volunteers trained and accredited as Health Trainers a level 2 Award from the Royal Institute of Public Health. We then hope that our Health Trainers will be licensed under an Honorary Contract from NHS Hounslow the local Primary Care Trust (PCT) to perform certain functions related to the screening process.

Our Health Trainers will then be able to measure a person’s weight, height, Body Mass Index (BMI) and blood pressure.

They will also assist with identifying lifestyle factors that may lead to Stroke like:-
 - Smoking, family history, obesity, lack of exercise, alcohol consumption etc

How we can assist with blood testing of levels of blood sugars?

Unless our volunteers are medically trained, they are not permitted to perform screening by blood testing. However we can work with health care professionals who perform the finger prick blood testing for levels of blood sugars
