Our Aims and Objectives

To promote awareness of diabetes and Diabetes UK to the public in general:
a To try to influence those at risk
of developing Type 2 Diabetes, so as to enable those people to change their lifestyles, such that they will avoid or delay developing it. (NSF Standard no 1).
b To promote awareness of the symptoms
, so as to enable those people with diabetes (but whom have not had it diagnosed) to recognise that they have developed it, such that they may seek medical attention and start controlling their sugar levels, so as to reduce the risk of them developing diabetic complications (NSF Standard no 2)

In relation to those diagnosed with diabetes (both Type 1 and 2): 

a To provide support to local people with diabetes and its related complications, and to those who care for them.

b To promote the welfare of local people living with diabetes and its related complications, and to those that care for them.

c To advance the understanding of diabetes by education of local people with diabetes, the health professionals and others who care for them, and the local general public.

d To promote and fund Diabetes UK approved research related to the causes, prevention and cure of diabetes and into improvement in the management of the condition and its complications; and to publish the useful results of any such research.
